Straighten Your Teeth Discreetly

Clear aligners are nearly invisible when worn, so most people won't notice them.

Invisalign® Clear Aligners Framingham

framingham woman putting invisalign inStraightening your teeth starts with a diagnosis, not a cosmetic decision. Dr. Ali Maddahi evaluates your bite, oral health, existing dental work, and goals before recommending whether Invisalign is right for you.

The aligners are removable and discreet, but your outcome depends on consistent wear, regular monitoring, and a treatment plan built around your specific needs. Cost varies by case complexity and treatment length, and our team can provide an estimate before you begin.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable trays. Each set is designed to apply controlled pressure to move specific teeth gradually. You wear the aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink (other than water), and brush and floss.

Consistent wear matters. If you frequently leave your aligners out, treatment may take longer, or the teeth may not move as planned. Most people find the aligners comfortable after the first day or two with each new set.

Concerns Invisalign Can Address

Invisalign can treat a range of alignment and bite issues, but it may not be the right fit for everyone. Dr. Maddahi evaluates your teeth, bite, and goals to determine whether aligners will work well for your case.
Crowded or Rotated Teeth
Teeth that overlap or sit out of position often respond well to a planned series of custom trays. The severity of your crowding helps Dr. Maddahi decide whether aligners are the right place to start.
Gaps and Uneven Spacing Between Teeth
Invisalign can close unwanted spaces or redistribute spacing as part of a broader plan. The size, number, and location of your gaps all factor into whether aligners are the right approach.
Certain Bite Issues
Some overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite cases respond well to aligner treatment. Dr. Maddahi assesses your bite type and complexity to determine whether aligners are the best approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Teeth aren't permanently fixed in one position after orthodontic treatment. Bone and supporting tissue that surround the teeth need time to stabilize, because natural forces can cause teeth to shift throughout life. Without a retainer to hold them in place, even well-aligned teeth may gradually move back toward their original positions.

What Orthodontic Retention Involves

Retention is a separate stage of Invisalign treatment, not an optional step. Here is what you might expect:

  • Some patients initially wear a removable retainer full time before transitioning to nighttime wear only
  • Wear schedules vary by patient, so follow Dr. Maddahi's specific instructions
  • Retainers require regular cleaning and occasional replacement
  • Inconsistent retainer wear can allow teeth to shift back toward their original positions

Think of retention as protecting the time and financial investment you put into treatment. Dr. Maddahi recommends the right retainer type and wear schedule for your case and will let you know when adjustments or replacements are needed.

A Careful Assessment Before Treatment

Dr. Maddahi looks beyond the visible position of your front teeth. He checks your tooth and gum health, how your upper and lower teeth meet, each tooth's position, and any existing fillings, crowns, or bridges. He uses digital x-rays and intraoral images to see what a visual exam alone may miss.

If you have active decay or gum disease, he treats that first. If another approach would serve you better, he explains why and walks you through the alternatives.

What to Expect with Invisalign Treatment

The first step on your Invisalign treatment path is a dental and orthodontic evaluation with Dr. Maddahi, where he gathers the records needed to plan your treatment. Then, you can expect the following:

  • Dr. Maddahi reviews your proposed tooth movements, expectations, and estimated timeline with you.
  • An Invisalign lab creates your custom aligners, and we'll provide the first sets with instructions for wear and care.
  • Wear your aligner trays for the prescribed time daily and switch to the next set every one to two weeks as directed.
  • We will schedule check-in appointments to review your progress and provide the next set of aligners.
  • The aligner phase ends when you have worn your last set of trays, and Dr. Maddahi is satisfied with the results.

In some cases, Dr. Maddahi will recommend tooth-colored attachments to guide specific movements. You may feel mild pressure or temporary tenderness when you start a new set. This is normal and typically fades within a couple of days.

Treatment Timeline

Treatment length depends on your starting alignment, the complexity of the movements, and how consistently you wear your aligners. After evaluating your case and developing a treatment plan, Dr. Maddahi provides a timeline estimate. Invisalign® Clear Aligners Technology

Panoramic X-Rays

A panoramic x-ray captures your entire mouth in a single, detailed image, including all your teeth, both jaws, and the jaw joints. Unlike smaller x-rays that show just a few teeth at a time, this wider view gives Dr. Maddahi a complete picture of your oral health in one easy step.

The process is quick and comfortable. You simply sit still for a few seconds while the machine gently moves around your head.

This broader view is especially useful for checking the position of wisdom teeth, monitoring how a child's adult teeth are developing, and identifying bone changes, cysts, or other concerns that smaller x-rays may not reveal. It's one of the many ways our team works to give you thorough, proactive care from the very first visit.
